The Amsler HDT/Vicat Allround instrument is designed for convenient testing in research anddevelopment, goods inwards checks and production monitoring.
Depending on the requirement, the instrument can be equipped with two, four or six measuring stations.
Determination of heat deflection temperature (HDT)
• To ISO 75 Parts 1 to 3, and ASTM D648 on thermoplastics, hard rubber, as well as fiber-reinforced plastics and filled thermosetting plastics.
Determination of Vicat softening temperature (VST)
• To ISO 306 and ASTM D1525 on thermoplastics.
Determination of creep behavior
• Under flexural load
Reliable test results
Through an automated test sequence, operator influence is minimized and errors are prevented. After the specimens have been inserted, the test is only started once. The weight is automatically applied and the measuring stations lowered. Once the measuring stations are completely lowered,the instrument begins to heat up automatically.
Aged silicone oil loses its typical characteristics required for reliable test results. The instrument monitors the level and aging of the silicone oil and signals when an oil change is needed. This ensures that testing conditions are always optimal, and that reliable test results are achieved.
Digital displacement measurement provides a high level of accuracy over the entire measurement range. Accurate test results are also guaranteed during the time
between calibration points, since the digital displacement transducers remain stable throughout.
Heat expansion of the measuring stations influences the accuracy of the test results. The designof the measuring stations, including the selection of special materials, ensures that no additional compensation, i.e. via the software, is necessary.
The weights are securely held at the top during specimen insertion and do not have to be secured individually. This leaves the operator with both hands free,and allows for optimal and convenient insertion and positioning of the specimens.
To provide the operator with a high level of convenience and efficiency, the oil bath is equipped with a protective feature that prevents overfilling or the possibility of complete emptying. Overfilling can lead to contamination and therefore damages to the environment and of the instrument components. The protection ensures that the oil bath cannot be overfilled when adding the silicone oil. It is also important, when changing the silicone oil, that the full amount of oil can be drained to ensure that the residue is not filled with the new oil that is to be poured in.
It takes less than one minute to open the cover for the oil bath. This allows for quick and easy access, for example to remove a lost specimen from the oil bath and prevent it from melting during the next test, in which case the oil would have to be changed.
Downtime for inspection and maintenance is greatly reduced through easy access to all the instrument components.
Protection for operator and instrument
A redundant system with two overheating protection devices for the silicone oil and the heating element provides maximum safety. The oil and the heating element are independently controlled and are optimally protected against overheating.
To speed up the instrument cooling process for the next test, it includes an integrated cooling system. If the outlet of the cooling water system were to be blocked,steam would accumulate in the cooling pipes at very high pressure, which would present a risk of injury to the operator and lead to serious damage to the equipment. The safety circuit with integrated pressure control valve protects the operator and the instrument.
The test area is optimally protected by a safety switch with mechanical guard locking, preventing external access during the test. As a result, the operator cannot reach in and is protected during high temperatures and automatic movements of the instrument. The risk of test interruptions due to external intervention is also minimized. A status display indicates at all times when the safety device can be opened.
The instrument is designed to be both CE and UL compliant. All safety aspects were extensively tested and verified by TÜV SÜD, an independent and one of the most renowned German certifying organizations.This process ensures safe operation of the entire system and careful selection of electrical and electronic components.

All test-related settings are grouped logically and are separated from higher-level system settings. The operator is guided through test configuration step by step.The stored test configuration can be easily exported and transferred to other devices.

Integrated user management reduces the number of operator input options to a minimum. Users see only what is important to them so they can focus on the task at hand right from the start.
Flexible use with or without PC
Thanks to the new, standardized operating philosophy, the user can easily switch between the device and the PC.

The simple and straightforward structure of the intuitive testXpert III interface mirrors the work processes in the laboratory. testXpert III is workflow-based from start to finish, reducing training time to a minimum and ensuring efficient and reliable testing.
